Safe to merge admin contact with second (duplicate) contact?

I've had problems using airdrop between my iPhone and MacBook which I've finally traced to an issue with my contacts.

I have one contact which contains my phone number and an obsolete email address. As far as I can tell this is also the Admin contact on my MacBook.

The second contact contains my phone number and up to date email addresses.

The two contacts have a different name/handle

If one of these were not my admin account (which is the one I would delete of the two), I would merge the two duplicates right away. My question is whether it is safe to do this or better to update the admin account with the correct details and delete the other one?
