Message notification, but no unread mesage

for weeks, I had an iMessage notification but when I would go to open up the Messages app, I did not have any unread messages. I’m operating on the most recent version of iOS 17.5.1. All I had to do was reset my network settings. In the settings app, I searched “reset network settings”, clicked on “reset network settings”, and once I was completed, the notification was gone! Yaaay!
