I can't add an outlook.office365 email account aka a Microsoft Exchange email accont to my iphone

Here is my problem. I go to settings->mail->accounts->add account and then you can select icloud, Microsoft Exchange, google, yahoo, etc. I select Microsoft Exchange. It then goes to the sign in page for Microsoft Exchange (which can be accessed on the web at outlook.office365.com, although in this case the sign in page is actually at the website sso.godaddy.com , godaddy being the domain host and email collaborator with Microsoft ). I type in the email and password which work at outlook.office365.com and hit "Sign in" . The phone freezes at this point and never responds

Update 6-18-24 I just upgraded to an iphone 15, brand new. Everything transferred well except the outlook.office365 / Godaddy email accounts. I used the same process, settings->mail->accounts->add account. I got to the same screen where the godaddy / outlook / office365 / Microsoft365 amorphous branded screen asks for my email password. after I hit "sign in" the screen froze, just as it did on my old phone. So I used the same trick, I copied the url from the box at the top, opened a new Safari browser, pasted the link into the new browser window, typed in the password, and it worked. Screen shot in next post.

Working with Godaddy, we fixed the problem, although it is not clear what the secret sauce was. One technique was to log in to the outlook.office365 email account through safari, to make sure the account is working and the password is correct independent of the "Mail" iphone app. The other technique was, at the point when the screen freezes in the login page, when it has the Microsoft logo at the top and is asking for email and password, copy the web address which is in the box at the top of the web browser. In my case it began "sso.godaddy.com" with sso meaning secure sign on. The whole string is about 500 characters. But this is indeed a valid web address which can be pasted into a browser (including on a PC or other device), and it brings you to the outlook.office365 / Godaddy login page (not sure whose chymera this is actually, Godaddy or Microsoft) . If you paste it into Safari on your phone, you can type your credentials in and by some miracle the process does not "hang". How your phone knows you have a godaddy-hosted domain is a bit of a mystery but they must figure it out from the domain name itself.
