Apple cash confiscated

I looked at my Apple Cash account; it had a zero balance. Apparently Apple decided to confiscate $612.08 for "inactivity," even though there has been activity well within the 3 year escheatment period for the state of Michigan. Apple support was utterly unhelpful, telling me I would have to get in touch with the unclaimed property department for the state of Michigan and prove they had my money and should be able to get it back "in about 6 months."

I was given no notification at all before confiscation. Support personnel told me things I know to be false.

Apple refuses to help recover my money.

Suggestions?

I'm assuming you are not an Apple employee but a helpful forum member, so I will not complain about your answer.

The Apple support rep already gave me the generic advice to "contact your state;" yours is at least a bit more specific. It would have been better if the "Apple Cash Specialist" or "Apple Cash Specialist Manager" had any idea there was such a thing as an Apple Cash Specialist at Green Dot Bank, or had that phone number. The T&C's don't say anything about confiscating money from an active account without any notice.

And Apple Cash is an Apple service, in Apple Wallet, running on an Apple iPhone, under iOS. It is not "Green Dot Cash". Apple should stand behind its branded products.

I’m not a current employee, but I did work for Apple in my past. I was a store manager, but that was long before Apple Cash, Apple Card, Apple Pay and other financial services associated with Apple. I disclose that openly in my profile on this website.

Apple Support Community is a public discussion forum for fellow Apple users to connect and assist each other. Apple is not here and will not read your comments or concerns. It’s just not the way this forum works. I’m happy to explain in detail, and I have posted in detail about this subject in the past, should you want to search for my previous replies.

I answer these posts because I have a background in finance and insurance ( one of my best friends is a former bank examiner) and understand intimately what is <probably> going on.

If you would like a better understanding, I’m happy to explain with a high degree of certainty the situation you’ve encountered. If you’d like me to explain further, I’ll be happy to. All I ask is, don’t shoot the messenger. I don’t have a dog in the race.
