Calendar events imported from .ics disappear after a few seconds

I have exported from an Outlook calendar a years worth of events to .ics to import them to my iPhone calendar. It imports, the events show and them immediately disappear again a few seconds later. I have calendar sync in iCloud switched on, I don’t know what to do next, please help me
