Desktop Folders Full Title View

I've just bought the MacStudio, super fast, I love it (Sonoma 14.4.1). However, the (work / clients) folders I create on the desktop only show the first 2 letters and the last 2 which means I waste so much time looking for them when I'm organising my desktop files. Does anyone know a way to show the full name of each folder? On my previous computer it did this as standard.
