I am starting to use Numbers for budgeting, but hoping to expand my horizons with this. What is a good resource for learning the formulas to use the app faster and with more ease? And, are there any tips and tricks you can think of that would be helpful?

If you are on the Mac be sure to spend some time exploring items under the Help Menu.
'Formulas and Functions Help' has explanations and examples. It's searchable.
'Numbers Help' has lots of useful information on using Numbers, including such features as Categories and Pivot Tables, which can be useful in budgeting.
Also be sure to have a look at the templates at File > New. 'Personal Budget' and 'Simple Budget (and other templates there) should give you good ideas, if you can't use them directly.
If you like instructional videos you can find many good ones at MacMost.
