if you suspect you have a keyboard issue:

>System Settings > Accessibility > Pointer Control and make sure it is turned off

Verify Mouse Keys feature hasn't been turned on by mistake in your >Accessibility Settings.

(It can be turned on/off by hitting the option key 5 times)

verify Full Keyboard Access did not get turned on

>System Settings>Accessibility >Keyboard>Full Keyboard Access>OFF

Those are keys in the same two (slightly diagonal) columns. That generally means a failure in the keyboard itself. these are generally not repairable, and would require keyboard replacement, which is expensive.

There is one possible complicating factor -- those are some of the keys typically assigned for "numeric keypad on the alphabetic keys", a popular add-on not supported DIRECTLY by MacOS, but possibly attempted (with varying levels of success) by any one of MANY third-party software packages you may have added.

So your added software (if so equipped) may be screwing up.
