How to disable photo shuffle automatic zoom

ios 17 automatically zooms images I’ve selected for my Lock Screen photo shuffle. Sometimes it looks OK; often it looks terrible. I’m trying to disable auto zoom. If I want to zoom, I’ll take care of it myself.

The user guide says “Reposition your photo: To reposition your selected image, pinch open to zoom in on it, drag the image with two fingers to move it, then pinch closed to zoom out.” But that doesn’t work for shuffled photos.

I’ve disabled “Depth Effect” but it made no difference.

How can I disable auto zoom for photo shuffle?

Hi there,

I understand the frustration with the automatic zoom on photo shuffle in iOS 17. Here's a quick solution:

Custom Lock Screen: Instead of using the automatic photo shuffle, manually create a custom lock screen with your selected photos. This allows you to set the zoom level for each image.

Go to Settings > Wallpaper > Add New Wallpaper.

Select Photo Shuffle and customize the images as you like, making sure to adjust the zoom for each one manually.

Feedback to Apple: If this feature is important to you, consider providing feedback to Apple. Go to Settings > Feedback or visit the Apple Feedback page to let them know about the issue.

Unfortunately, as of now, there isn't a direct setting to disable auto zoom specifically for photo shuffle. I hope Apple addresses this in a future update.

@Razi - AMAZING!!!! That is exactly what I wanted to do and I never would have found it on my own. It puzzles me that Apple provides two almost identical mechanisms to accomplish the same thing but (at least from my point of view) the hidden one works and the obvious one doesn’t.
