Keyboard lag when gaming

After about 1-1.5 hours of gaming, my MacBook Pro's keyboard will begin to lag with no explanation. This began yesterday afternoon. It ONLY happens while gaming. I will have the game open, minimize the screen or switch to another window, and the keyboard works without problem. This only happens in two games: Sims 3 64-bit and Valheim. I have tested other games and the keyboard works fine. I have never had issues with either of these two games until yesterday.

Other instances/happenings/info:

• This happens both with and without a bluetooth keyboard
• Has occurred with all of my bluetooth keyboards (Apple Magic Keyboard, Logitech keyboards)
• No lag with mouse/trackpad
• When it happens with the bluetooth keyboard, the built-in keyboard will not lag
• It also happens with the built-in keyboard with bluetooth turned fully off
• Restarting the computer solves the issue temporarily, but it will happen again after about an hour or an hour and a half
• Turning off the game and restarting the game does not solve the problem
• This has NEVER happened before. I have had zero issues playing high-intensity/graphics/RAM games up until about 12 hours ago

Device specs:

• 2020 13" Macbook Pro
• Apple M1 chip
• 8 GB memory
• macOS Sonoma 14.5
• ZERO issues with anything else
