Losing attachments in draft mail

if I create an email with an attachment on MacBook Pro and then save it as a “draft”, when I try to open that draft on my iPad the email will show the paper clip indicating an attachment, but no attachment is visible . This just started happening recently….whats going on?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

I’m beginning to think that this might be related to the Mac using an older operating system that IOS17 is no longer communicating with. I just saw another complaint relating to attachments in gmail getting lost between Mac and iPad at this thread Email attachments in drafts disappear - Apple Community

obviously mailing oneself the draft is a solution but a pretty annoying one.

Am having the exact same issue. Created email's on Mac Pro running Big Sur, Text and multiple Jpg's. The email's appear in the Draft Folder on the Mac E-Mail looks perfect formatting Text and multiple photos. On both my iPhone and iPad running IOS 17.5.1 the E Mails appear in the Draft Folder but only Show text, the photos are missing. Where the images should be there is just a big blank white surface indicating that "there is something there" but it never loads.

Interesting - when I opened up the draft emails on my Mac this AM to send them, after double clicking on them I noticed at the bottom above my signature was a small line of text saying "Sent from my iPad" The whole point of this was wanting to try out the "Send Later" feature and given that I couldn't see any photos in the draft's saved on the iPad I had zero confidence in sending them from there.

OK This is crazy. GIven your reply, I just tried sending the "empty" ipad drafts back to the Mac; they showed the size of the "empty" attachment....and as you said, they DID include the attachment when it was sent to my Mac! So, ipad can't "read" the attachment from Mac but can send it anyway???! I give up. SO....I should have seen the clue that the empty attachment was showing the size of "something" even tho it wasn't visible?? grrr
