yahoo 2 factor PW causes problem sending email - rejected by SMTP server

MY ISP (Frontier) recently move all email over to Yahoo. I made the transition OK with my three email addresses. Things were working fine. My frontier.com addresses were workin great.

Then I followed Yahoo's suggestion that I use 2 factor sign in. I set it up for one address without a problem, except I now find I can receive e-mail but not send email from this address. This is using the Apple mail program.

It says the sender address... was rejected by the server smtp.mail.yahoo.com

I tried turning 2 factor off and it still is the same.

Other two addresses work fine. They currently have two factor off.

I can't winnow out a solution from the discussions I've found so far.

verify your server settings(?)

Mail>Account>Server settings

Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server

Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com

Port - 993

Requires SSL - Yes

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server

Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com

Port - 465 or 587

Requires SSL - Yes

Requires authentication - Yes

Your login info

Email address - Your full email address (name@domain.com)

Yahoo’s mail servers are garbage. Have been for decades. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a free email account from outlook.com or another free email provider. Transition over to that. Dump your ISP’s email entirely. That way when you inevitably move or change providers, you won’t have to deal with changing our email address at the last minute.

Thanks but I think I sort of have the all in place. Do I need to generate a new app password after toggling 2 factor on and off?
