'Resumable copy' issue

I started copying a sizeable folder to an external drive but had to stop the copy process a couple of hours in.

When I cancelled the copying I was given the option to make a resumable copy - which I did.

I know have a greyed-out folder on the destination drive that I cant access or delete. If I click on the greyed out folder I cant see or access the contents, instead I am given two options; 'Finish Copying' or 'Keep resumable copy'.

'Finish Copying' will continue with the copy process (not what I want to do as I have modified the source folder), and 'Keep resumable copy' will just do nothing further - leaving me still with a greyed out folder on the destination drive that I cant access or delete.

There is no option to cancel the copying process permanently and inspect the assets copied so far.

This is nuts, even Apple tech support don't know about this feature.

Anyone found a workaround, or the option to switch this unhelpful option off in prefs?

Thanks Martin, yes, several times - the folder remains faithfully offline awaiting instruction to do it's one function ie continue copying.

interestingly if you modify the source folder once you halted the copying you will get an error saying source folder cant be found and asking if you want to start again.

The only workaround I've found is to make an alias of the greyed-out destination folder, you can then click on that and see the assets inside. You can then drag these over to a fresh folder and delete the original greyed-out folder.

Clunky but it works.

What's odd is that Apple say they aren't aware of this being an issue, despite people complaining about it since Monterey in '21
