Ai rewriting texts

Here’s one for you. It’s something out of a sci-fi/horror movie. My phone is out of storage so I have yet to download the latest update. I do not have 17.5 yet. Last night I noticed a blue line (like when you’re sending an image) over the group chat I was in. I was also texting with others individually and the line was only in the group chat. I sent my usual message along with an emoji. Suddenly, I noticed there were two messages. My original and a shortened one. Even my emoji was changed. The people in the chat sent me a screenshot and sure enough it was the ai alternate one that sent which really didn’t make much sense as well as an emoji which was not a representation of how I felt. When I go back to view the message on my phone, both texts are gone. Any thoughts? Personally, ai is creepy as heck. But, I do not even have 17.5 software yet. I’m confused.
