Magnetic timeline no longer working correctly. Please help!

Hi. I would appreciate some help with a problem. I'm running v. 10.7. When I drag a clip onto the timeline or trim an existing clip, FCP no longer snaps the added/trimmed clip to the preceding clip. I have the magnetic timeline turned on (view>snapping and/or the snapping icon above the timeline). It's driving me nuts! Any assistance would be appreciated.

Another thing that's happened - that may be part of the problem - is another new behaviour. Whenever I add a transition, FCP adds a second transition at the other end of the clip and creates a connected clip. I've never had this happen before and have never used connected clips in my editing. Don't want to either!

RESOLVED: Bad library. I opened an old library to see if it was affected, and it was not. I deleted the library that gave me grief (I had just started the project, so it was no loss) and created a new one. There is no problem with the new library.

Yes, the skimming issue is a known bug that a lot of folks are having. Move your mouse cursor over the Browser area and it should work correctly, as has been reported by others.

I've not yet heard of your transition bug. But in the mean time, trash all render files and pref files. Restart FCPX.

All bug reports should go to the feedback page (in the Final Cut Pro menu), as there are no Appel development people on these forms.

I have to say that this sounds like user error to me. You appear to adding connected clips, and so there is no magnetic timeline involved.

I could be wrong, of course, but please post a screenshot of your timeline showing where it is failing, to be sure. When you select a clip and double click on a transition it sdds it to both ends - that is expected behavior. Plus you say “adds a connected clip” where I am sure you meant “connected storyline”. This reinforces my interpretation that you were indeed starting with connected clips. Again please post some screenshots so we can be sure.
