safari 17.5 on Monterey 12.7.5 keeps on quitting by itself unexpectedly on iMac late 2015
I happened while browsing with no particular reason.
iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.7
Start with this...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?

in Safer mode it did work, although was very slow.
I let it run for 30 minutes and then I restarted.
since then I’ve only had it on for a few hours and so far no sudden quitting.
ill wait a day or 2 and then decide to do with the second option.
