Scarlett 4i4 line 2 signal not going through to Garage band?

I have 2 lines plugged in for a Podcast, one is a Mic using 48v power, the other is a Inst 1/4". I can hear both signals through the headphones, but only the main mic (48v) on line 1 input shows a recordable line level in garage band. I can hear and see the line 2 level on Scarlett and hear it through the headphone, but the signal is not making it to Garage band track 2. Record settings are set at input 1-2, as well as I tried each track at input settings 1, 2 separately, still no signal from line 2 input, though I can hear both through the headphones.

I also went to Security settings to make sure the Garage band Mic setting were allowed....Any help and suggestions much appreciated.

Keith - I did try this and I was not able to get the microphone to work. Mac system preferences enable using microphone, Garageband has the correct input output sources selected, isolation mode is turned off, Garageband is allowed to access the microphone per Mac settings...

I've gone through all the troubleshooting I've seen on the internet and no luck. Any workaround?
