How can I ensure that my data is safe if my iPhone is lost?

I lost my phone and marked it as lost. My password is really easy to guess. In case the thief manages to guess the passcode, can they still access my data?

The thief will get 10 tries to guess your passcode before the phone completely locks out.

If he/she guesses correctly though, they will have access to the data on your phone.

Might be a good idea to erase the phone if your passcode is something like 123456, 000000, etc.

From Apple's Support Document linked below........

When you mark your iPhone or iPad as lost, your device is put in Lost Mode — it's locked with a passcode, payment cards and passes that you use with Apple Pay are suspended, and you can display a phone number and message for someone who finds your device.
