BobTheFisherman is on the right track.

Warm air can hold More water vapor than cold air before condensation occurs. So Heat won't cause condensation, but not allowing a COLD metal computer to acclimate to room temperature WILL cause condensation.

if you are getting detectable condensation/water OUTSIDE the chassis, the moisture detectors INSIDE will also indicate moisture was present, and you may have EXTREME difficulty obtaining service when you need it. Those detectors can not tell the difference between condensation and submersion in water.

Grant Bennet-Alder is correct. Sorry I was not clear enough. Condensation occurs when warm air collides with cold surfaces, or when there's too much humidity in the area. When this moisture-packed warm

air comes into contact with a chilly surface, it cools down quickly and

releases the water, which turns into liquid droplets on the cold

surface.

The key is the difference in temperature and humidity in the air.

Sorry, but I misread your post. Seeing “develop water stains” I read it as “deep water stains”. So, keep with troubleshooting this, as mentioned by @BobTheFisherman and @Grant Bennett-Alder.
