Technically , probably as it maybe scanning every single file that is changing since the last time it scanned every single file.
Always looking for some ( Virus ) that does not exist on macOS

As the machine is getting Hot with this AV Software installed
You could Test if the same occurs once the AV Software is completely Removed as per Developers Instructions
The come back with the results
