External mic not recognised - iPhone 14 plus

I have purchased an official Apple lightning - 3.5mm adapter as advised by staff in store solely to record higher quality audio when recording video. I am using a 3.5mm TRS - TRRS cable to connect my radio mic receiver to the Apple adapter.

However, no apps (have tried the native camera app, Blackmagic, Filmic, Motiv video etc) recognises this source and uses the iPhone’s inbuilt mic. Please help.

Are you certain that the 3.5mm microphone plug is wired correctly?

In general, there are three main wiring standards for 3.5mm TTRS connections - and they are not interchangeable:

CTIA (Apple)

OMTP (Nokia)

Camcorder AV
