Long press to "Select all" in text list doesn't work

I read that when sending a text to a created list of people in iPhone all you have to do is long press on the name of the list and it will ask to "send to all" but it isn't working for me. What's the point of creating a list of contacts if you can't just use it to create a text to all recipients?

I figured this out myself!! Instead of opening a blank text or email and try to populate the "To" or "+" with your list of specific contacts, you have to START FROM THE CONTACTS APP!! In the Contacts app, hold you finger down on the NAME of your LIST and a separate window pops up asking if you want to create an email or message to ALL IN THE LIST. That's the point of having lists right? Yes, it's just Apple loves to do things a little different than other platforms where it's done from the email or messaging app. START from the contacts app to populate your email or message!!! Thanks Apple for not explaining this to us.
