Contact photos

So I have been wanting to change my contact photo because the other one is a picture from over a year ago. When I do so it seems like it’s working but when I go back to settings it’s still the old one. I’ve tried restarting my phone, and other stuff too, but nothing seems to work. That problem happened on my old phone and now on my new phone too. Can anyone explain?
