For everyone else, these tips also work to capture steps when pushing a shopping cart or stroller. They also work when using recumbent exercise devices that require no hand/arm movement.

The Apple Watch does not really know what position your body is in.
The Apple Watch uses the accelerometer to determine that your Apple Watch arm is swinging as you are walking.
