Facebook Messenger contact photo or avatar on lockscreen notifications

How can I turn on the feature that allows me to see the contact photo or avatar of the person who messaged me instead of the app icon on my lockscreen notifications? I know these images are not the same app but I know someone whose Facebook Messenger lockscreen notification looks like the first image with just the Messenger icon, not the iMessage icon. Please help

Whatsapp widget The WhatsApp widget is gone after the last update.
