Simple Passcode greyed out on my Apple Watch SE 2

So I recently erased my iPhone 15 pro max. When I paired my Apple Watch SE 2 (which was already paired to it before the reset), it is refusing to allow me use a simple passcode. I don't belong to any corporate or school. Please help me to get the simple passcode option back on
