HDMI Setup: Apple TV 4K —> Denon Receiver —> Hisense 8K U8N (2024)
Symptom: On the Apple TV 4K device, every single app plays normally (Netflix, Prime, HBO, Disney+, Paramount+, etc.). Except: The Apple TV+ app plays video with music and sound effects, but no dialog.
Clearly not about the Apple device.
What is it about the Apple TV APP that is different from every other streaming app?

This is usually a symptom of the configured speaker setup. Surround sound assumes a center speaker specifically for the dialog, unless the audio system overrides that internally (phantom center configuration, using L and R).

The system uses 5 speakers: two front, two rear, and woofer. I cycled through the Denon receiver settings and hit upon one that brought back the dialog. Thanks for the suggestion.
This still leaves my main puzzlement unanswered, though. Is it possible that Apple TV+ is the only app that defaults to only 5.1 sound? And cannot be changed?
Intuitively, I think the Denon should treat all sources the same, and not single out the Apple TV app from other apps on the same Apple TV box. I can’t explain that.
