How do I generate a new Apple ID recovery key?

Without the Recovery Key or another Trusted Device, you will not be able to access your account. Apple makes that very clear here:

This gives you more control of your account recovery methods and can help prevent an attacker from gaining access to and taking control of your account. However, if you lose your recovery key and can’t access one of your trusted devices, you'll be locked out of your account permanently.

- If you still have access to your Apple ID and password but have lost your recovery key:

- If you have forgotten your Apple ID password, have lost your recovery key, but still have access to a trusted device.

- If you have a forgotten password and you do not have access to a trusted device:

Apple says: "Using a recovery key is more secure, but it means that you’re responsible for maintaining access to your trusted devices and your recovery key. If you lose both of these items, you could be locked out of your account permanently."
