My iPad's lock-screen turns black and stays that way, is it normal?
On my devices when I hit Lock Screen it turns black and stays that way . Is this normal ?

Unlike some models of iPhone, an iPad does not have an always-on OLED display available, so yes, the display of a sleeping iPad will be black; will be blank.
If you tap the iPad screen or tap a top or side button, the display will activate. Details here depend on the iPad and its current settings.
