Yahoo email for Apple registration
Why is it so hard to set up a new phone using yahoo email (even if I used a gmail address for my old iPhone)? Doesn’t apple already expect a gmail account to set up a new phone? If so why?

No, Apple does not expect a Gmail account to set up a new iPhone. But perhaps if you let us know, in detail, what you are experiencing, we may be able to help. Are you setting up the new phone from a backup of the old phone?
