yes, that mac's SSD can be upgraded up to 2TB.

I would recommend shopping at OWC’s website to source the SSD. and there are self install videos on their site that you can use to see for yourself if it is an operation you can accomplish, or if you will need to farm it out.

I believe Storage is set when you purchase your device, you can upgrade your iCloud Storage, but not the Mac storage.
