Your phone does not have a virus and you do not need a VPN.

The message that you saw was NOT from Apple. Apple will never send a message like this, so you know that is a scam at best that is trying to trick you into buying useless software or providing personal information about your phone.

Ignore and delete the message and any others like this that you might see.

That message you received is not from Apple, use these tips to avoid scams and learn what to do if you receive suspicious emails, phone calls, or other messages.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

  • Apple will only ever call you from 1-800-APL-CARE or 1 (800) 275-2273.
  • If you receive a suspicious email or SMS text message that looks like it's supposed to be from Apple, please email it to reportphishing@apple.com.
  • If you receive a suspicious FaceTime call or link to a FaceTime call in Messages or Mail, please email a screenshot of the call information or link to reportfacetimefraud@apple.com.
