Carplay Audio disabled during phone calls

Hello, i installed a Kenwood Receiver (DMX7706S) with Apple Carplay. It works perfectly with exception of audio during wired carplay phone calls. No audio comes through the car speakers or phone. The mic is working, the other person can hear me. If I disconnect the lightening cable, it will switch to bluetooth and then works perfectly with audio playing through the speakers. Also, if i select the phone speaker the call will work that way. But, no matter what I do phone audio will not play through the car speakers with the wired carplay. Every other audio does work through the speakers. My iphone is up to date (17.5.1) but this problem has been persistent through multiple phones. Any help is much appreciated. Phone calls in the car are a real hassle while using carplay.

I would dig into the settings menu of the Kenwood Receiver and see if there are volume controls for Apple Car Play for phone calls. Many systems have built in controls for this. Another simple option is when in a phone call, turn up the volume control on the Kenwood system.
