iMessage signs me out daily and I need to keep signing back in

iMessage signs me out daily with an error message saying "You were signed out of iMessage". It seems to happen when my iPhone 13 Mini (iOS 17.5.1) switches over from WiFi to cellular data. I drive around all day, so I cannot have a consistent WiFi source. There is no option for iMessage under cellular data in settings. This problem isn't fatal, but it is highly annoying.

I have tried the options that have been posted on this and other communities, like signing out, restarting and signing in. I'll stop short of resetting my settings unless it's proven to work 100% of the time. I think it's an Apple glitch, but if someone has an actual solution or can assure me it's a bug, as opposed to "idk, maybe try this", I'd really appreciate it.

The reason there's no option for cellular data in settings for Messages is that you can't turn it off for Messages. So, unless you're out of range of a cellular signal and WiFi, you should have a connection. What you're seeing isn't normal behavior. You should be able to go without a data connection for longer than a couple of hours before iMessage gives up.

One thing I'd check is your ability to send international SMS messages. Contact your carrier and confirm that you do have this ability. iMessages uses international SMS messages (that you don't see on supported carriers) to authenticate. If there's some sort of glitch in that, it could be causing a problem.

Ordinarily, having roaming enabled wouldn't affect anything, as all that does is allow you to use roaming networks when you're out of your local area. These days, that usually means another country. Unless you're crossing and re-crossing an international border (or are very close to one), just having it turned on shouldn't make a difference. But turning it off also won't hurt anything.
