How to Remove the Horizontal Bar on Full Screen Apps in macOS Sonoma

I have a problem with my applications not going into full screen; there is always a horizontal bar at the top. When I click on it, it shows the desktop. I’m using macOS Sonoma and I experience this issue with Chrome, Sublime Text, and other applications. How can I get rid of this horizontal bar?

Go to System Settings > Control Center > Menu Bar Only (at the very bottom).

Change "Automatically hide and show menu bar" to a setting that is NOT set to "Never".

old issue, new issue, what changed?

If this is limited to your third party apps— you would think by this late date the apps would be updated(?)

if in doubt search the developers website or contact their: Support/Help/FAQ/Known issues/compatibility/updates…

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

I was advised to go to System Settings > Control Center > Menu Bar Only (at the very bottom) and change “Automatically hide and show menu bar” to a setting that is not set to “Never.” However, I want the menu bar to remain hidden, and I want maximized windows to occupy the entire screen space, both in height and width, without any margins or the horizontal bar corresponding to the notch. Currently, all my maximized applications stop just below the notch. Is there any way to achieve this?

I would suggest following through on ALL the suggestions presented by both @leroydouglas and @Randall_2023 before moving forwards

An aside you your main issue
