How do I update/create new Outlook email for MS Modern Authentication in Mail on my MacBook Air?

MS website gives detailed instructions to do this on iPhone, However it appears that the Mail app for laptops is not updated.

You should be able to set it up as a Microsoft Exchange account.


  • Exchange server address: outlook.office365.com
  • Exchange port: 443

Yes, it currently works, with sync issues. Basis Authentication will NOT be available for ANY Outlook account beginning Sept 16, 2024. See link above.

Apple has updated the mail app on iPhone, but not Sonoma for their computers. This is a significant issue for users that prefer to use the Mail app for all their accounts vs having multiple apps
