Connecting Mac mini to LG 27MD5KL

I have a Mac mini 2014 2.8 GHZ Dual Core Intel Core 15 and an LG 27MD5KL 2019 monitor and trying to connect them. Help! I tried this cord but the monitor doesn't go on at all..... The connection on the monitor is Thunderbolt 3.....

You might get the Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter and a Thunderbolt 2 cable to work.

see > https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMEL2AM/A/thunderbolt-3-usb-c-to-thunderbolt-2-adapter?

Then if it works? Be warned that the 2014 Mac mini's GPU, will only drive it at a low resolution and refresh rate.

see "Video Support" at > Mac mini (Late 2014) - Technical Specifications - Apple Support

Personally I suggest plugging that display into a 2018 or later Mac mini with Thunderbolt/USB-C ports...

or returning that display and getting a display that has HDMI or DisplayPort inputs for the 2014 Mac mini.

Thank you so much for your advice- I will try getting the adapter and cord. The Mac mini & monitor were actually hand me downs… so not an option yet to get a better match;). Current monitor I’m using with this Mac Mini is an Apple Cinema HD Display (yes everything I have is old ;-)). Do u think getting the LG to work at the lower resolution will be any better (or worse) than my Cinema HD?
