I used to have my aol and gmail inboxes combined and for some reason they are separated so that I have to click on them separately to read my email

In the Mail sidebar, hover the mouse over Favorites and click the “>” icon. This should reveal the list of your favorites, including the All Inboxes folder, which would contains all your email accounts in one place. If you don’t see the All Inboxes folder, hover the mouse over Favorites, click the “+” icon and add the All Inboxes folder.
