Disable HDR on Macbook Air M3 for better screen brightness while watching movies

I would like to disable HDR playback on the new MacBook Air M3's built-in display.

I was able to disable HDR by turning on the battery setting "Optimize video streaming while on battery", but this only works when the MacBook is unplugged. The screen is much brighter when video is in SDR, which is what I prefer. When I plug the MacBook back in, the brightness goes way down again!

I imagine this is technically possible as it works with the "Optimize video" setting while unplugged. It would be great to have a setting to maintain HDR off even when the MacBook is plugged in to maintain better brightness while watching movies with the MacBook plugged in.

Thank you,

Alex
