How can I add a manually entry for the amount of steps I have walked today?

Before I had a watch, apple fitness would track my steps/distance. However, I left my watch at home today and apple fitness says I haven’t done any steps, but even MyFitnessPal recognises I’ve done 7.5k steps. Why can’t I even add data? Or why doesn’t my phone track my walk like it used to?

As soon as you pair an Apple Watch to your iPhone, it becomes the main data source for the Fitness App.

You can only add certain workout data to the Health App, which will then add up to the Move ring, for example.

But, adding steps in the Health App will not change the number of steps taken, recorded by your watch.
