How to easily extract vocals from song or audio files?

Hi all,

I'm trying to extract vocals from a song to use them for a personal project. I have the audio files, but I'm not sure what the best method or software is to cleanly separate the vocals from the instrumental parts. I've heard that there are various tools and techniques, but I'm not sure which one would give me the best results.

Could someone recommend a reliable method or software for extracting vocals from a song? Any tips on achieving high-quality separation without losing too much of the vocal clarity would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to both free and paid options, as long as they are effective.

Thanks

Audacity is a free, open-source audio editing software that, when combined with the Spleeter plugin, offers effective vocal removal capabilities. Spleeter, developed by Deezer, uses deep learning to extract vocals from songs. Spleeter can separate audio into multiple stems, making it easier to isolate and remove vocals.

After installing Audacity and Spleeter plugin, paste the following command to separate the vocals and instrumental from the song file. Replace path/to/your/songfile.mp3 with the actual path to your song file:

spleeter separate -i path/to/your/songfile.mp3 -p spleeter:2stems -o output

This command will create a folder named output containing two files: vocals.wav and accompaniment.wav.

Online tools may not offer the same level of quality as professional software. The separation of vocals and background music can result in artifacts or a significant loss in audio fidelity. In addition, these tools also have limitations on the file size and types they can process, potentially compromising the output quality.

Uploading audio files to online services means you are sharing your data with third parties. This can be a concern if you are working with sensitive or proprietary audio. In short, the online tool is not a good solution if you want to extract vocals from songs. For better control, privacy, and quality, consider using dedicated desktop applications or software like:
