Problems linking Apple Watch to iPhone 8 max

I have tried the se 2nd gen and the watch says I need iOS 17. My husband’s iPhone 8 max has iOS 16. Online charts say that it should be compatible with se 2nd gen, but the watch expects iOS 17 and will not pair the watch and phone.

Which watch will work?

iPhone 8, iOS 15

You would need any Apple Watch not using watchOS 10 or greater. That would mean an Apple Watch that has not been updated since September 2023.


Or an Apple Watch older than one of these models would work.


Of course, you seem to be going in reverse. Realize the iPhone 8 was released by Apple almost seven years ago.
