Keeping words and symbols together on one line in Pages

I am using Ventura 13.6.7 on my Mac.

There appears to be no activity on this topic since 2012 and 2014. In the past 10 years, I hope a high-tech company like Apple has solved the problem of words and symbols separating at the end of a line in Pages (other than a hard hyphen or space).

This is a persistent and annoying problem that I do not have time to waste on more research or watching multiple episodes on YouTube.

For example, when I type an eclipse (...) at the beginning of a quotation, the word following the ... jumps to the next line. This is most undesirable and distracting in professional writing.

I do not want to use tricks like moving the entire quote to a new line, changing the font to make it fit on one line, omitting the eclipse, etc.

Is there a new, improved way of keeping /, ..., dates, and hyphenated proper names, on one line in Pages?

Example:

“…(end of line)

with God all things are possible."

According to internet sources, in July 2024, Apple has a market cap of 3.382 trillion dollars, topped only by Microsoft. Let's hope my research is outdated and that there is a new solution to this age-old problem.

Please enlighten me.

Thank you.

It doesn't matter what Apple's market capitalization is currently reported. Pages is from an Apple product team that must manage its own internal budget and design intention. You still need to insert a no-break space or a narrow no-break space between the ellipsis and the word to prevent the end-of-line split with Pages v14.1.

The current version (v16.86) of Microsoft Word requires no space treatment between the ellipsis and the associated word that follows it. The ellipsis and the adjoining word will both break to the next line in Word by default. If you want advanced features like this in Word, then you need to use the right tool for the result you seek.

You can always send the Pages product team feedback from its application menu, but it will cost them less for you to use MS Word.
