Why is my device being scanned?

I was on Facebook, reading a post. All of a sudden I hear this horrible, sharp beep. We did just have an Amber alert earlier this morning. I went to look, but I just saw where my device is being scanned. Why is it being scanned & why has no one answered all the questions being asked on a whole thread about it?

That’s some sketchy advertisement using the multimedia controls.

“Scanning your device” is the name of the multimedia, and it includes beeps.

There’s no scan happening there.

Ignore it.

If it persists, I’d look to use an ad blocker.

This sketchy advertisement sending over multimedia file is entirely unrelated to Amber alerts.
