My new 11" iPad Air's screen lock time is factory set at 2 mins - waaay too quick. In Settings/Display & Brightness, the Screen Lock dialogue is "grayed out" and won't let me change the setting. What's "up" with that? How do I change it?

Switching from my old iOS 12, iPad to the new one has been a venture into "unchartered territory". I did not select low power mode; apparently, APPLE pre-selected that for me, and unbeknownst to me.. Surprisingly (to me), I was even able to find Low Power Mode under "Battery", turned it off, and now have five-minute screen lock duration! Thank you so much - it was driving me crazy!

iPad auto-lock will be fixed at two minutes if you have enabled Low Power mode:
Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode
You might also check that Date & Time and TimeZone are also correctly set for your iPad - as these settings are known to cause various functional issues if incorrectly configured:
Settings > General > Date & Time
You cannot change the setting because you elected to use Low Power Mode to preserve your battery.
You may do one or the other.

Just for your information, something caused that Low Power Mode to be selected. It is not on by default on a brand new iPad.
