Refurbished 2022 MacBook Air with M2 13.6È screen worth buying for video editing (Windows User)

I am PC Windows user. Looking as buying 2022 MacBook Air, M2, 13.6" display but with 8GB RAM. Is this powerful enough for video editing & creating.

In terms of power, the M2 does indeed provide phenomenal performance. The battery life of any Apple Silicon laptop is also incredible. However, 8 GB RAM will simply not suffice. As most other responders have agreed, you must have at least 16 GB RAM unless your editing will be lightweight enough. No storage specifications have been listed, which is fine, as you can always buy external storage to connect and use, which makes internal storage less of a concern.

Paying for upgraded RAM certainly increases the price of Mac, but this upgrade is definitely necessary for demanding tasks like editing. However, if you could manage to use less then 12 GB RAM on your previous Windows PC, then you may be able to get away with using 8GB RAM, as MacBooks seem to generally manage RAM better.

I would like to note that if this refurbished MacBook Air is from the Apple Store itself, consider buying the MacBook Air from a retailer like Costco, Best Buy, Amazon, Micro Center, and other retailers of the same status.

Edit: NEVER CONSIDER ANY NON-APPLE DEVICE. EVER.

I know that there are some restrictions with regard to the windows OS - that is the nature of computers, I guess. However, I have been around PC computers since 1986 and I know that, even with laptops, it is possible on a windows based laptop to upgrade the memory, the hard drive, replace a fan, and even in some cases replace the graphics card. But with Apple machines, that is not the case, if you buy a machine with 8gb memory but find you need more, tough! You are stuck with what you have or you have to buy a new machine. This is just one example. However, I also have a laptop that will not run Window 11 OS. Nor can I upgrade the graphics card, but I did get the hard drive upgraded to an SSD, and it has an Intel i5 processor. But it is 10 years old. That's not a bad record. Apple experts tell me that the architecture of the Mac is such that all the components are manufactured by one company, so there is greater compatibility and reliability than trying to assemble a bunch of parts from different manufacturers into a whole, working machine. That maybe so, but I think that idea is very much open to debate. However, I have decided that I will buy the ASUS ZenBook 15 OLED WITH the Ryzen 7 processor, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD etc. etc. I can get a refurbished one for less than the aforementioned MacBook Air and I read that AMD are rivalling Apple's M chip with their Ryzen integrated chip and the Radeon Graphics card. I guess I might start a storm of replies.

There are PCs that run Windows 10 which can't run Windows 11, because Microsoft requires TPM 2.0 support as a precondition for running Windows 11.

Bets of luck with your new computer.

Thank you for all your useful advice. But Oh! Dear, I wish I had read your reply BFORE I made my decision and bought the ASUS ZenBook etc. etc. I just bought it. The one thing that holds me back from buying a Mac is that I have so much licensed software on my PC. Hundreds of dollars worth. I would have to buy that all over again for a Mac. As I am now on a pension and getting on in years, I can't really afford to do that. But can you admit to just a little prejudice towards the Apple? I do own an iPhone 12 Pro plus a 4th Gen iPad Air. So I am a part Apple user!! Thanks for your reply.
