Restore From a Time Machine Backup:

Did you ever create a Time Machine Backup of your Mac prior to the upgrade? If so, restore your Mac from it, and then try this once more. If not, then rake this as a learning experience, knowing to always back up your Mac, prior to making any major change to it, such as an upgrade or user creation. That way, you can have something to restore it from, should anything go wrong afterwards.
