Tiny Scanner App ripping me off

Years ago, I …BOUGHT…….BOUGHT…. NOT ..”paid for a subscription”….the “Tiny Scanner” app for my IOS devices ( my iPad and iPhone) …

and now the app won’t open, but rather opens a page requiring that I pay for a subscription.

i have contacted the developer who is ignoring my demand for access to the app… no… I don’t need to ASK…we have a contract… I performed my part by paying the ( at the time) full…purchase…price… therefore I demand that

“The developer shall repair my access to the app/ software that 1) they sold…2) I bought and fully paid for.”

Further , I demand that

1) as Apple is the middle party, like Napster… they are liable to either demand that the developer of Tiny Scanner REPAIR/RESTORE my access to tiny scanner… or be help liable ( like Napster) for the enabling of an app developer / vendor to accept payment for a product sale and then not deliver the product…aka theft.

or

2) shut down /stop this developer/ app vendor from doing fraudulent business on the App Store.

I have copied this text and I will be sending it to my credit card transaction service provider requesting that they contact the intermediary “Apple/App Store” to report what Apple is doing to store the theft/fraud…

exhibit 1) in my complaint…. Go to the App Store and search “Tiny Scanner”… look at the reviews and filter for “one star”and “two star” reviews… not that there are multiple identical customer complaints… stating that “ the PURCHASED APP” ( not subscription) will not allow access and demands a subscription style additional payment.

its all there.

Not sure if you’ve gotten this resolved, but I came across the same issue, but noticed that once I updated, it restored my premium access to the app. They likely have grandfathered in anyone who had upgraded to the paid version before they switched over to a subscription model. If you update the application, I imagine the same will be true for you. When I open the app now, go to settings, and click subscriptions it shows “premium, expires: lifetime”. There is also an option to click “restore purchased” at the bottom. I didn’t use that route but I think it would achieve the same desired result.

I might also add for context that this application only cost $4.99 when I purchased it in 2020. I guess just not something I’d get that worked up about in 2024. There is a built in scanner in Apple’s “Notes” app. And tons of other free scanning app options. Just my opinion though.

Developers can and do release newer versions of apps that require a subscription. When they do that, they frequently stop supporting the older, one-time payment version. Just because you paid for an app doesn't mean 1) that the developer is obligated to continue to support it forever on all future iOS versions and 2)that they are obligated to give you access to different versions of the app with different terms. Apple is not the app developer and will not intervene on your behalf.

Oh, and this is a user-to-user forum. It is highly unlikely that the app developer is reading here. So, demanding anything here is kind of pointless and silly.

The key phrase here is "Years ago..."

There is NO fraud here, things have changed. The world has changed. Apps have changed.

As IdrisSeabright has stated, developers move on and today many have embraced a subscription model and apps from "years ago" are abandoned and no longer function.
