Why is my Macbook Air screen dimming? Late 2020 MBA M1

This happens more and more frequently when all of a sudden my screen will dim like I turned the brightness down and I get these bursts of light across the bottom of the screen. I was able to fix this by closing the screen and reopening, but now that doesn't work and it's pretty much stuck like this. Any help would be great! Thanks.

Those bright spots across the bottom of the Display are referred to as a stage light effect and indicates a hardware issue with the laptop's built-in Display Assembly. If the laptop is out of warranty, then expect an expensive repair. Have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop to provide you with a repair estimate.

HI there! Maybe this could be due to potential screen damage and/or wear-and-tear that has happened over the years. This could look like water damage, internal or external screen pressure and or damage, and debris potentially getting under the screen and damaging the way that the pixels show on the screen!

Side Note: I had this problem with my MBA 2017 model when it took on some water damage, but also it was super old as well.
