A home wi-fi network is a way of connecting to the internet in your home without having all of your devices connected to a router by an ethernet cable.

Typically you pay a cable tv provider or a phone provider for a connection to your home and either they or you provide a modem and a router (or a combination modem/router in a single device). The router broadcasts a wireless wi-fi signal in your house that your devices can connect to.
